PETA Joins Morrissey’s 2022 Tour

Morrissey tour 2022 3

PETA joined Morrissey’s 2022 UK tour to remind his fans that meat is murder and sing the praises of vegan living.

This Charming Man never misses an opportunity to speak up for animals. The singer, songwriter, and The Smiths legend invited PETA staff and volunteers to leaflet at his tour dates, and we were at gigs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Brighton, Doncaster, Glasgow, London, Manchester, and Stockton-on-Tees.

Heaven knows his fans now know how to take action for animals. Ahead of the concert each night, PETA reminded the public that there’s no justification for supporting the slaughter and suffering of animals for a moment of taste. We gave out thousands of leaflets, vegan starter kits, and “Meat is Murder” badges.

Meat Is Murder

Chickens, pigs, cows, and other animals are subjected to extreme cruelty so that humans can steal their flesh, eggs, and milk.

Piglets’ tails are cut off without painkillers, chickens are crammed into crowded sheds in which the stench of ammonia is so strong it burns their lungs, and cows suffer from painful udder inflammation, the result of milking, and endure the heartbreak of being forcibly separated from their newborn babies, over and over again.

At the end of their miserable lives, all animals – even those on dairy and egg farms – are sent to an abattoir.

Fight Climate Change With Diet Change

A University of Oxford study found that going vegan can reduce our carbon footprint from food by up to 73%. Animal agriculture is, according to some estimates, responsible for a greater proportion of greenhouse gas emissions than all forms of transportation combined. So while it’s great to take a train instead of a plane, the most impactful change we can make is to our diets.

Better for Your Health

The World Health Organization classifies processed meat as carcinogenic, while the British Medical Association has confirmed that people who consume meat and dairy are more likely to suffer from heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. By contrast, eating vegan has been proved to help people live longer. It improves our quality of life and helps us stay fitter and healthier.

Please, Please, Please, Go Vegan

We all have a choice: we can reduce animal suffering or we can perpetuate it. In 2022, we have so many options – from vegan prawns to plant-based chicken – it’s never been easier to make the transition to a vegan diet. Take the first step now:
